HDU establishes inhouse MOOC – the eCommerce Academy

The HDU is consistently pursuing its path towards digitization in internal trainings and is establishing its inhouse eCommerce Academy following international MOOC (Massive Open Online Courses) pioneers such as Udacity and Coursera.

Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG operates individual e-shops in 27 countries worldwide. The implementation of eCommcerce training courses for the management of these country-specific eShops is a challenging project, especially due to the diversity of organizations that are also located in different time zones.

We have developed a new online training concept for this purpose: The starting point was to focus on the various touchpoints that a Heidelberg customer has along his customer journey. We looked at the touchpoints from the corporate website, eShop and email blasts from a customer perspective and decided to focus on four different training areas:  KPI Training – Promotions & Campaigns – Product Management and User Management.

For the eCommerce Academy we use the existing Heidelberg Collaboration Tool and provide training modules for each area as videos with important teaching content, how-to’s and tutorials as well as discussion boards. In total, the Academy will contain 35-40 videos. We work agile on the implementation of the training modules and plan the publication of further videos in 4-week sprints. This methodology guarantees continuous progress at the Heidelberg eCommerce Academy.
